Going Bright

I was going through some snapshots from our past scouting trips, and happened upon this fabulous hot pink dresser.  Would you rock a hot pink dresser? What about a tangerine credenza? How about a lime green side table? Are there any rooms where you think in-your-face color is off limits?  I personally love bringing an unexpectedly bright piece into a room, but I know it's not for everyone - or every house!

Black & White

One of Kir's most favorite color combinations, the crisp contrast of black and white will never go out of style. Our tips for making this bold color combination work in a room?

1. Go for one big, graphic piece and make it the focal point of the room. Keep everything else somewhat neutral - the lines should be clean and simple. You can use solids to keep the look consistent without overwhelming the eye.

2. Scatter black and white accessories throughout a room. A lamp shade, a vase, and a picture frame can all act as threads to keep a room looking cohesive and well thought out.

3. Don't be afraid to mix patterns. A chevron looks wonderful when paired with dots. Stripes and modern florals are a match made in heaven.

4. Keep the rest of the room colors to a tight palette....no more than three. Some of my favorites to pair with black and white is green, blush pink, and cobalt blue. Another factor that can throw off the palette? Wood - keep the tones consistent.

Animal Instinct

Instead of incorporating an animal print into an interior, I have been noticing a lot animals - not just their skins - making appearances in interior spaces. Here is a fun round-up if you want to hop to it on this trend.
